The Global Green Burial Alliance (GGBA) is a free pledge membership networking organization dedicated to promoting and providing critical information and education concerning any and all eco-friendly funeral options globally.
As a space for eco-friendly funeral professionals, consumers, and communities to connect and share practices, ideas, and customs, we are initiating a global conversation to promote positive change in deathcare. The truth of processes and products, transparency, and respectful engagement and communication are at the center of this conversation.
Through free and open discussion, we are building a free network of experiences and education. Use your voice and join this conversation to help us pave a greener way in deathcare.
Take a virtual trip to the land down under on 11/4 / 11/5 to learn about the natural burial scene in Australia! Join us and our extra special panel of guests to explore the Australian green burial movement, from its growth and future to the latest scoop on the country's VERY FIRST burial in a conservation cemetery!
About Our Guests:
Fiona McCuaig of Walawaani Way Conservation Cemetery:
Fiona has volunteered and worked for a number of marine conservation and environmental organisations throughout her property career. She has a Bachelor of Economics from Sydney University and a Master of Property at UTS. After moving down from Sydney to the South Coast of NSW in 2016 she started the journey of establishing Australia’s first 100% natural and conservation burial ground – inspired by a documentary called Will for Woods where an Australian documentary maker named Amy Browne followed a man in America who was dying of cancer and his pursuit of finding a natural burial ground. Fiona says, “It seemed like the best way to protect habitat for wildlife and also provide a beautiful place to visit loved ones, a gift to the planet.” Walawaani Way Conservation Burial is an 18-hectare site that provides habitat for glossy black cockatoos, koalas and lyrebirds. Fiona is striving to make conservation natural burials the number one choice for all Australians by communicating that this is what humans have done for 99% of our existence as is simply a part of the cycle of life.

Tamsin Ramone and Alyssa Wormald of Heaven & Earth Eco Burials:
Tamsin Ramone and Alyssa Wormald share a passion for green burial and the ethos of going back to the Earth naturally and gently. Tamsin and Alyssa have lived in the outer eastern suburbs of Naarm/Melbourne for most of their lives. Growing up in the foothills of Mount Corhanwarrabul (in the Dandenong Ranges) on Wurundjeri Country, they were raised to care about the planet and animals, values that have very much persisted!
Alyssa is a dedicated animal activist, heavily involved in campaigns to protect native wildlife. Tamsin is passionate about trees and protecting old growth forests, involved in multiple campaigns. Both Tamsin and Alyssa believe in living with as little impact as possible on the Earth and its creatures.
Tamsin Ramone and Alyssa Wormald are both mothers, and their experience of being both stay-at-home and working mums has made them keen to support other mums in business. Wherever possible, they find mothers running small local businesses as their manufacturers and associates. In doing this, they have developed wonderful partnerships with people who don’t mind their meetings being interrupted by a toddler or three. Tamsin and Alyssa strive to keep their manufacturers local, both to keep down carbon emissions and to support their local craftspeople.
Tamsin and Alyssa are proud to provide a range of cruelty-free, biodegradable, sustainable and customisable burial products. Tamsin and Alyssa partner their offerings with community education about the environmental and social benefits of beautiful green burials.
